In-Person & Online Psychiatry
At the initial appointment, I will perform a thorough medical, social, and mental health history review. Once a thorough assessment has been made, we may begin treatment. Oftentimes, a person may benefit from regularly discussing their problems and developing skills and strategies to manage them better. This can be done with the psychiatrist directly, or in collaboration with the help of a therapist.
At other times, a patient and the psychiatrist may decide that medication might be helpful. If it is agreed that medication is to be used, it is essential to discuss its potential benefits and risks. It is also important to closely monitor the effectiveness of the medication used in treatment, how it may interact with other medications you may be taking, and have lab work performed occasionally to check for potential medical side effects.
